About
Hello! My name is Sara and I love going to new places. Whether it be traveling to different countries, exploring small towns, or walking myself up a mountain, I believe there is always more to see and experience. Currently, I am living in New Hampshire, working as an engineer after graduating from Clarkson University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Math & Statistics in Spring 2020. I am still figuring out life, as I’m sure we all are, and until I do, I like to take control of what I can and plan weekend trips and adventures on my days off to keep me busy!

My Favorite Pastime: Hiking
Planning adventures as a recent college graduate, I’ve picked up lots of tips and tricks for how to travel and hike when you have both time and money constraints. Luckily, having hiking as a hobby has been my savior as it is an affordable activity that lets me explore the world from a new perspective. As I continue to learn how to budget my time and money, I want to share my unique experiences with anyone else who could benefit.
-Hiking in Mont-Tremblant in Canada
Growing up in upstate NY, I always enjoyed being outside, but I don’t believe it was until I was in college that I truly embraced hiking. While I knew pretty much nothing at first, and I’m still no expert by a long shot, I have tons of fun learning as I go! My current hiking goal is to finish the Northeast 111 Hiking Challenge I just completed the 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks and the 53 total 4,000 footers in Vermont and New Hampshire! I’m also working through various other New England hiking lists as I continue to explore and gain experience with solo hiking, backpacking, and winter hiking.
I am still shocked by where your feet can bring you. Sometimes I stop and look around wondering, “How did I get here?” This has been said both in awe and in confusion many times! Hiking is an activity that I think a lot of people are still nervous to explore but I am here to say there are soo many ways to get into it. Even if you never do anything that’s considered “intense hiking,” it’s amazing how with an open-mind, you can always find new things to discover in the outdoors.
My Travelling Dreams
I have been fortunate to travel to many different countries and states with my family and friends. I am a huge fan of road trips and would love to build a camper van of my own one day to zip around in (if only to always have a bathroom available while on the road because I have been in some desperate situations lol). I can make lists upon lists of things I want to do in New Hampshire, and then I realize I could do that for every state in the US…and really every country! I’ll end up going down a Pinterest hole and let my imagination run wild. Next thing I know, it is past my bedtime and I have work the next day. One day, I say!
Sipping hot cocoa on a rainy day in London-
As a recent college graduate, I’ve realized it’s up to me now to determine where I want to go and what I want to do. It’s both scary and exciting understanding how much opportunity is out there. I could live in fear of making tremendous mistakes or embrace what makes my soul happy. When I really want to explore somewhere new, I know I can always find a way. Sometimes that means planning for days, making sacrifices, and going out of my comfort zone, but it is always worth it! Every time I come home I am more confident in my abilities and have more things I want to try and places I want to go. While I’m sharing what works best for me, I know there’s about a million different ways to save and plan out there so I’d love to hear your ideas, any additional tips that have benefitted you, and your experiences!
Traveling is a way for me to experience the world with others and hiking is a way for me to experience the world with myself. I believe both are essential to feel fulfilled. I have not been a full-time traveler for years and am not any sort of thru-hiker which makes me feel exceptionally average writing this, but that’s kind of my point. If you have a little time to plan, a little restraint to budget, and a little imagination to dream, there are so many ways to explore your home and yourself. I am hoping I can provide inspiration, escape, or whatever it is you need as a reader, and I would love for you to stick around to see where I go next and hear about the progress I make as a Restless Meanderer.
